I AM 24

IAM24 is the music from a dance work choreographed by Treacle Holasz in 2013. The project explored ideas of identity and cultural heritage through four dancers, each responding to their own background.

For my contribution, I looked to my own English heritage by sampling recordings from Early Lately, an album by my father’s cousin, the folk musician Lyn Geddes, used with her permission. Small fragments of her songs are broken apart, layered and transformed, allowing traces of the original melodies to surface before disappearing again within a new musical landscape.
