Around, again

Around, again was commissioned by HAUSPOZ Euskal Herriko Akordeoi Elkartea for Topakord 2024. The piece takes the simple idea of a musical round as its starting point, gradually stretching and reshaping it as the ensemble unfolds.

Short repeating phrases circulate through the orchestra, each moving at a slightly different pace so that the music continually slips in and out of alignment. Familiar patterns reappear in ever-changing combinations before giving way to a final section of shuddering chords.
